| • Scripps Florida’s second spin off company, cuRNA, will develop therapeutics and possibly diagnostic biomarkers.
• Two Florida institutes, Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona and Scripps Florida will play key roles in a massive project to screen molecules for possible new drug development. The National Institutes of Health, awarded $97.9 and $80 million to Burnham and Scripps, respectively, for the project.
• Miramar-based Altor BioScience was one of only six private companies awarded a Grand Challenges Explorations grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The company will engineer vaccines that will help limit drug resistance.
